“There will be the wonderful fireworks on Friday, July 4 as usual. This year the rockets will be set off at the hockey rink. I talked to Jay Debus about this. His Dad, Turk Debus, had set off fireworks for years and years as he was a Stone Lake Lion, and then Jay did this for years and years with his Dad, and then Turk stayed at home on 4th of July and Jay continued to set off the fireworks for years and years. We are counting 50 years here. Jay said that the hockey rink area was where fireworks were always set off, even before the fire department was built there. The fireworks stage moved over to Metcalf field, then to John Henk’s, now to the hockey rink. There is a distinct advantage to this as the fencing of the rink will be a great protection for all.
